Grace Construction European Waterproofing Division CDROM

Grace Construction needed to distribute their library of product information throughout their European distributors and customers, due to complexities of differing country construction regulations & guidelines plus the need for all information to be available in each of the 17 countries native language, the library was extensive, so distribution in a cost effective manner was a major concern. Having been involved in the development of a similar CDROM for their Concrete Division, Grace Construction turned to us for assistance.

the solution
Due to the large volume of information, it was initially planned to distribute the library on DVD, but this was abandoned, as it was likely that end users would only have CDROM players. Due to CD’s only holding a tenth of the information contained on a DVD, the costs of producing multiple CD’s would have been prohibitive, so a large amount of file optimisation was required, initial tests of converting the library to PDF & Flash proved successful. The complexities of compiling the information proved lengthy and took Grace Construction almost 18 months to compile and translate from initial brief.

The final interactive programme contained over 1,000 PDF’s, almost an hour of video, detailed illustrations & animations, links to web resources, contact details of every Grace Construction office and distributor in over 40 countries covering Europe & the Middle East, was in 17 languages and all fitted on single CDROM.

The CDROM has been duplicated over 16,000 times and has been distributed throughout Grace Construction’s offices worldwide. The feedback to the CDROM and information has been tremendous, so much so that Grace Construction have entered it for two industry awards and commissioned two follow on CDROM’s for their Fire Proofing and Concrete Divisions.
